Longtime Alaskan and Kenai resident Ramon Doyle Barrett died Sunday, April 15, 2012 with complications due to APhib, lung cancer and COPD. He was 67.

A Moose Pilgrim Service and pot luck will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Kenai Moose Family Center, 12516 Kenai Spur Highway. His ashes will be interred at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with his family present at a later date.
He was born Oct. 28, 1944 in Seattle, to Wilma Ion Baker and Harold Ramon Warner.
For the last month of his life Ray was totally overjoyed with the birth of long awaited great-grandson Westin Swaggart.
Ray graduated from East Anchorage High (1963) and earned an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1970 following two deployments to Viet Nam. After arriving in Kenai in 1981, Ray became the Secretary of the Peninsula Moose Lodge holding most chairs and earned the prestigious Pilgrim Degree. At the time of his death he was a current member of VFW Post 10046, American Legion Post 20, and Peninsula Family Center 1942.

Ray leaves his love to his family and friends for their support and assistance during the past 1½ years.
Mr. Barrett was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Wilma Barrett; brothers, Wayne Jr. and Gregory Barrett; niece, Angie (Barrett) Herbert; nephews, Steven Ziegler and Shane Mahar; and past brother-in-law Paul Ziegler.
Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anne; daughter Renee (Scott) Bible and children Desiree (Shawn) Swaggart, Brad and Carissa Bible, and Shane Rodgers; daughter, Karen (Joe) Dukowitz and children Brittany Adams, Alicia, Haley and Melissa Conti.
Mr. Barrett is also survived by his sister JoAnne (Rick) Skonberg, her sons, Kenny and Bobby Ziegler, and their families and daughter Shannon Skonberg; sister, Cheryl (Jim) Bird, her daughter Brandee Mahar, Brandee's daughter Hannah, and their daughter Jessie Bird. He also has two additional nephews Joey and Nick Barrett.
