Robert Lawrence Andree, 73, died Saturday morning, Nov. 3, 2012 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
Memorial services will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Elks Club in Soldotna.
Bob was born on July 23, 1939 to Emma and Oroville Andree in Twin Falls, Idaho. He lived a full life and always knew how to have a good time … he was a legend for that very reason among his many friends.
His early childhood was spent in Idaho and Minnesota. From early adolescence to early adulthood, Bob lived in Bakersfield, Calif., and was a 1957 graduate of North High. That same year he married his first wife, Bobbie Elkins, and they had three children: Keith, Kelly and Kevin. Bob joined the military a short time later and served proudly in the U.S. Air Force.
Bob moved to Alaska and loved fishing the Kenai River in the days before the great influx of guides. He loved the solitude the river provided in the 1970s and 80s and loved the thrill of reeling in the big catch. He passed on his love of the river and fishing it to each of his kids.
In 1986, Bob and Katie married and were together until his death. He retired from ARCO in the early 90s and he and Katie enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. They always had lots of friends to spend great times with no matter where their travels took them.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Keith Andree, his parents, his brother Ralph Andree, sister-in-law Sharon Zimmermann and numerous friends.
Survivors include his wife, Katie, and stepson Larry Henley, his son Kevin Andree and daughter Kelly Andree. He also leaves grandkids Nickey and Kyle Andree, Brittany Jackson and her husband Brennan, Cori McCloud, and Jerrell Henley, as well as niece Cherie Nagel and her family, nephews Cary and Blake Andree and their families and Jimmy and Guy Zimmermann.
