Kenai resident Shirley Lennox-Hillyer, 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at her home in Kenai.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Kenai Senior Center, 316 Senior Court in Kenai.
Mrs. Lennox-Hillyer was born Nov. 8, 1931 in San Francisco, Calif., and grew up on the West Coast and at Lake George in upstate New York. In 1951 she married Arthur Lennox and raised four daughters while she developed her life-long artistic abilities as a window display artist, interior decorator, and became a recognized fine art painter with her landscapes, wild animals, birds and sea coasts paintings. She was a muralist, a successful art teacher, and she owned various art galleries. Being well traveled in "Painting America," her indomitable spirit for life itself and inner spiritual richness was an inspiration to others.
She is survived by her second husband, Artist Steve Hillyer of Kenai; daughters, Sharron Lennox of Reno, Nev., Kathie and her husband, Bill Nickels and son, Jim Van Orden, of Rochester, N.Y., Bonnie and husband, Frank Lipowitz and children, Jonah Lennox, Holly, and Jim Cordi and Stefan Lipowitz of Rexford, N.Y., Colleen (Robinson) Lennox and sons, Emmett and Galen Robinson; her husband's seven grown Alaska children, Michael, Kay, Jan, Guy, Brook, Joe, Kimberly, and their families including numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
