Crystal (Dionne) Star (1984 - 2012)

Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Crystal (Dionne) Star.

Crystal Star passed Oct. 24 in Portland, Ore. from Cystic Fibrosis complications. She was 28.
Crystal lived in Lake Oswego, Ore. She was a professional singer and songwriter for the band Staller, and she ran a home business healing others with Reiki. She enjoyed hiking and exploring the trails in the woods of Oregon.
She was born in Fairbanks. Her mother home schooled her in Nolan, a small mining town in the north bush until she was 10. She then moved to Ninilchick, where she graduated from high school.
Crystal married her husband Jonathan Star in Santa Margarita, Calif. Oct. 24, 2009.
Her family wrote: "Crystal lived her life to the fullest and didn't let anything stop her from pursuing her dreams. Everyone she met was affected by her radiant smile, her luminescence and her contagious laughter. She was a spiritual light in this world and helped anyone she could with advice on how to live a better, more full filled life. She was kind and generous and always put others before herself. We are so proud of how strong she was and how courageously she fought and overcame so many battles. She had a passion for singing since she was a little girl and knew that it was the only thing that made her forget all her worries. Her singing and song writing with her last band Staller were powerful and inspiring. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her and knew her well, and the world will be dimmer without her bright light. If she could say anything to others, it would be to live your life in gratitude and strength, and don't let the small things deter you from looking at the bigger picture."
Crystal is survived by her husband; mother Susan Dionne Kaffke; step father Dave Kaffke; step brother Weston; father Paul Dionne; step mother Kris; half brother Nolan; brother Dustin Dionne, his wife Brittney, her niece Everlyn and nephew Ethan; grandmother Angeline Pellerin, of Maine; several aunts and uncles living in Main and California; and seven cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Marcel Poirier, of Rochester, N.Y.; and grandfather Raymond Dionne and grandmother Carmen Dionne, of Auburn, Maine.
