Edward Donald Martin Sr. passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. He was 81 years old. Ed was a pioneer Alaskan homesteader north of Willow. He served in the Korean War as Navy submarine third class petty officer enginemen honorably discharged, Ed joined the local 302 operating engineers 50 years ago. Ed served as a Mat-Su Borough Assembly member and on the Mat-Su's original Planning and Zoning Board. He later became the City of Wasilla Public Works Director during the 1980's boom. He also is the Guinness World Record holder for collecting the most four leaf clovers by any person on the planet.
