Alaska resident Sarah Ann Slegers died of Neuroendocrine cancer July 10, 2013 at home, surrounded by her family. She was 31.
Sarah was born June 24, 1982 in Soldotna.
Her family held Sarah's services 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Redoubt Elementary pavilion. A Slegers family memorial fund has been created at Wells Fargo. Condolences can be sent to the Dehlboms in the care of Slegers at 49155 Charlie Brown Dr., Soldotna, AK 99669.
"Sarah was such a great source of courage and optimism," her family wrote. "She brought joy to so many people through her roles as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and labor delivery nurse. Sarah's first priority was her family. She was a passionate mother and a dedicated and loving wife. Sarah fought her disease without complaint, always exhibiting grace and courage. We will deeply miss our Sarah-bear and her angelic smile."
Sarah was married to Jan Slegers. They married July 28, 2007 in Salem, Ore. Her parents are Mike and Lisa Dehlbom.
Sarah received a BS from Western Oregon University and an RN from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She was a delivery nurse (RN) at Central Peninsula General Hospital.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Jan Slegers; children, Jacob and Drew Slegers; parents, Michael and Lisa Dehlbom; siblings, Jordan Dehlbom, Mandy Coomer and Elyse Dehlbom; grandparents, Charlie and Gloria Blades; and grandparents, Gene and Barbara Dehlbom.
