Retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Glenn L. "Mac" Maguire lost a courageous battle against an inoperable brain tumor on Saturday, June 29, 2013, while visiting his daughter and family in Arbuckle, Calif. He was 80.
There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 starting at 3 p.m. at Mac's home in Soldotna. Please join his family for food, drink and to share stories to celebrate the life of this really "big man." Call 907-252-4108 should you have any questions or need directions.
Mac was the son of Leroy W. Maguire and Ethel (Krick) Maguire, born in Duncannon, Pa., on Feb. 8, 1933. He was a graduate of Duncannon High School, class of 1951. He began his 30-year career in the U.S. Navy in July of 1952. Upon his retirement he and his wife, Jeanie, moved to Kasilof, where they lived their dream of hunting and fishing to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy J. "Jeanie" Maguire, loving daughter, Salli Matteson, son-in-law Dwayne Matteson and grandson Michael Matteson.
