Chris Donnell(December 24, 1974 - March 3, 2014)

Chris Donnell of Joyce passed away in his home on March 3, 2014, after a six-year struggle with brain cancer — a battle fought with an amazing attitude.

He was born on Christmas Eve 1974 in South Lake Tahoe, California, to James Donnell and Chantal Whitney.

Chris worked with his uncles, Lyle and Johnny Weyhmiller, fishing commercially at the age of 12.

He later earned his bachelor's degree in fire science. He proudly served his community for 10 years as a fire fighter/EMT at the rank of lieutenant. He also worked as a fire fighter for the National Park Service.

He later owned his own construction company, Crescent Development Incorporated, for 18 years.

Chris loved being on the beach, diving, kayaking and "playing" on his construction equipment.

But most of all, he loved being with his girls.

Chris was a gentle, loving and caring man. He will be greatly missed.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Vashina Donnell; daughters Krystal and Rashaya Donnell; mother Chantal Whitney; stepfather Roger Whitney; father James Donnell; parents-in-law Elvin and Brenda Rout; and brothers Jimmy Donnell and Andy Hardage.

He was preceded in death by his "nana," Vicki Freeman.

A memorial service will be held at the Joyce Grange, 50870 state Highway 112, on Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m. A potluck reception will follow.

A memorial fund has been established at Kitsap Bank.
