Our sweet, sweet Donna is at peace now, basking in warm golden light. She left us on January 21, 2014, after a long battle with breast cancer
Donna was born on March 2, 1946, in Long Beach, California, to Phillip Sheridan and Vertle Joyce (Rogers) Calhoun.
Caring, clever and always patient, she was the perfect candidate for the teaching career. With a master's degree in speech and hearing, she taught special education in Los Angeles, then worked as an elementary school teacher
in Port Townsend.
She was a member of the National Education Association and Washington Education Association.
She married the love of her live, Robert Christopher Puckett, on August 11, 1967, in Gardena, California.
She loved traveling, decorating, reading and caring for her family. She was also a member of Fabster's Book Club, North Beach chapter.
She leaves behind her husband, Robert "Chris" Puckett of Port Townsend; sons Ryan (Cecilia) Puckett of Portland, Oregon, Sean (Larisa) Puckett of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Evan Puckett of Seattle, Washington; daughter Alison "Ali" Puckett of Olympia, Washington; mother Vertle Joyce Calhoun of Port Townsend; and brothers Scott and Brian Calhoun, both of Port Townsend.
Donna also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Sophia Brigitte Puckett and Eva Caitriona Puckett, both of Cambridge.
Her sister, Diane Calhoun, preceded her in death.
A visitation will take place today, January 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kosec Funeral Home, 1615 Parkside Drive in Port Townsend. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Coe Hutchison will take place directly after the visitation.
