Francis Irene Holt "Great Mama" Hutto



Irene was born in Cleburne, Texas, in April of 1921.

She and her high school sweetheart, Thomas Newman Hutto, married in 1941, and they were married for 30 years until Tom passed away in 1972.

They had three children, Nicky Newman, Kathy Sue and Danny Thomas.

Irene and Tom moved to Port Angeles in 1955, and all three children graduated from Port Angeles High School.

Irene was a quilter and belonged to the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club in Sequim. She loved sewing and quilting as well as gardening.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Angeles.

She lived in Port Angeles from 1955 until 2013, when she moved to Bellingham, Washington, to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings.

Irene is survived by her son, Nick Hutto; daughter Kathy (Terry) Diimmel; grandson Thomas (Nicole) Diimmel; great-granddaughters Kana and Pali Diimmel; and son Dan (Patricia) Hutto.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 4, at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles, at 1 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. burial.
