Francis John Zimmel( Francis John Zimmel passed away on March 2, 2014, from complications of h)

He was a member of Queen of Angels Church.

Francis graduated from Chicora High School in 1947. After graduation, Francis entered the Army. He was honorably discharged in July 1950.

While with the Army, he was stationed at Fort Warden in Port Townsend, where he met his future wife, Mary. The service and their love of dancing brought them together. They continued to enjoy dancing until their health issues kept them from doing so.

Francis and Mary were married on January 27, 1951, in Chicora at Mater Dolorosa Church. They returned to Port Angeles after their wedding to start their new life.

Francis went to work for the Daishowa mill on September 18, 1951, and retired in 1989.

They were happily married for 62 years before Mary passed on December 1, 2013.

Francis had numerous accomplishments in his life, but his greatest accomplishment was being a good son, husband, father, grandfather and good friend.

Francis's grandson, Ronald, stated it best in a book that he gave to his grandpa on the subject of grandparents: "Francis Zimmel — A model man, A caring Father, and an amazing and loving Grandfather — Love Ronald."

Francis is survived by his loving daughter and caretaker, Nancy (Tom) Wilcox; his two sons, Gary (Clarice) Zimmel and Cory Zimmel; his grandchildren, Angie, Eric (Barb), Ronald, Holly, Tyson (Stef) and Devin; his great-granddaughters, Emily and Autumn; and his great-great-granddaughter, Kodie. He is also survived by his brother David (Rosemary) Zimmel.

In addition to Mary, in his lifetime, he also lost his mother and father; his sisters, Nancy, Margaret and Evelyn; and his brothers Paul and Bernard.

We are truly lucky to have had such a person in our lives, and we are thankful for every moment we shared with him. He is where he wanted to be now, and that is with our mother. They are hopefully dancing together somewhere in heaven.
