Gary Neil Maddock(October 14, 1935 - March 28, 2013)

Gary Neil Maddock, 77, born October 14, 1935, in Norfolk, Nebraska, and resident of Anchorage, Alaska, since 1989, died peacefully on March 28, 2013.

He was born to Humphrey and Kathryn Maddock of Joyce and was especially close to his grandparents, Harold and Vera Brown of Port Angeles.

Gary graduated from Crescent Consolidated High School in Joyce in 1953 and received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1962.

He is survived by Sharon Frances Lemke Maddock of Ketchikan, Alaska, his wife of 55 years.

As a young man, Gary worked at Olympic National Forest. He loved the outdoors and rode his horse, Buck, on many trail rides. His family has many happy memories of him taking them on hiking trips, horsepack trips and skiing.

Gary worked for IBM as a senior systems engineer. His IBM career spanned 30 years and took him and his family to locations all over the country.

Gary won the IBM Golden Circle Award in 1968 and attended the awards in Hawaii with his wife, Sharon. When Gary was assigned to IBM's World Trade Americas Far East in New York, he represented IBM in the Americas, Africa and the Far East, traveling to Brazil, London, Korea, New Zealand, Australia and Japan.

Gary is also survived by three children, Janet Lee Fasimalo of Anchorage, Susan Lynn Maddock of Anchorage and Pamela Joy Casey of Arlington, Virginia; eight-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gary will be missed terribly by his family.
