Robert S. Allgire died peacefully on September 11, 2013, in Port Townsend.
Born in Brawley, California, on August 4, 1925, to Harry Alphus and Lydia Beam Allgire, he was raised in Adair, Oklahoma.
After serving in the Army
Air Corps, he received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Engineering from Western Washington State College in 1951.
This began a career in education which lasted more than 30 years until his retirement in 1984 in Coupeville, Washington.
Bob continued his commitment to children by spending summers working with Boy Scouts of America.
He married Theresa Joan Preston in Quilcene on September 2, 1955. They raised two children, Michael James and Brenda Eileen, and one grandson, Brent Allen.
Upon his retirement, Bob became active both in state and locally in the Washington State School Retirees' Association. He was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church and a board member for the Quilcene Museum.
He leaves behind his loving wife, children, grandson and sister, Marilyn.
