Port Angeles resident Arthur Howard Camp, 65, passed away peacefully at Olympic Medical Center of cancer on May 27, 2013.

He was born on January 3, 1948, to John and Helen (Jones) Camp in Juneau, Alaska. He grew up in Juneau and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School.

Among the numerous jobs Art had included commercial fisherman in Alaska, mechanic with Alaska Airlines and longshoreman and warehouse foreman at the Port of Seattle. Art was an active participating member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 9.

Art met Vale (Johnson) Davis while working in Seattle. The couple moved to Covington, Washington, and lived there for 28 years. On April 20, 1987, they were married in Seattle.

In 2004, they moved the family to Port Angeles to live on the family property.

Loving husband and devoted father, Art was a "best friend" to all who knew him, known for his generous and giving spirit. Among numerous interests in life, Art loved his two dogs, Holly and Star. They were his babies and lifelong companions.

Art leaves behind his children, daughter Anastasia (Will) Madison of Sequim and his son, John (Stacia) Camp of Port Angeles.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vale (Johnson) Davis.

Celebration-of-life services are pending.

Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment was at Ocean View Cemetery, Port Angeles.
