The Guest Book is expired.

Betty was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 28, 1925 to Harry and Linnie (Boyd) Wood. She grew up there and attended Transylvaina College in the same city.

At the end of World War II, she was living and working in Washington, DC. There, she met and married Navy Commander Harry Allan Barnard, Jr. They had one daughter Betty Aileen (Babs).

Following her husband's death Betty worked for Pan American World Airways for 26 years in various supervisory capacities in both the reservations and at the airport.

Upon her retirement, from Pan Am, she moved to northern Wisconsin. While living there she established a figure skating program under the auspice of the YMCA in Ironwood, Montana at the new Gogebic Community College ice arena. She was also an active Hospice volunteer in northern Wisconsin.

When she returned to Washington state she settled in the Port Angeles Sequim areas. There she spent her time volunteering with OlyCap Home Fund, MANNA, Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic, Puget Sound Blood Bank and Bone Marrow Bank, Sequim Senior Center and the Port Angeles Fine Art Center.

Betty is survived by her daughter Babs and beloved son-in-law, Dennis Johnson.

Betty will be missed by all, she was a GREAT friend?

Betty's ashes will be spread over the water later this year in a private family memorial on the ocean.

Betty loved cats and all cat things! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in her name, to Peninsula Friends of the Animals, P.O. Box 404, Sequim WA 98382.
