Eleanor Rich Ballard, 83, of Port Angeles passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

Eleanor was born in 1929 in Blackfoot, Idaho, to her late parents, Walker and Eleanor Rich.

She studied art at the University of Idaho and Traphagen in New York. Eleanor was a gifted commercial artist and worked at the Seattle-Post Intelligencer and the Peninsula Daily News.

She is survived by her sister, Ada Mae Woodson; children Megan, Amy and Andrew Ballard; daughter-in-law Sandra Ballard; son-in-law Greg Boyer; and four grandchildren. She also left behind many dear friends in Port Angeles, where she had lived since 1984.

Close friends describe Eleanor as a creative and independent force of nature. She was an intelligent, political and passionate trailblazer with a great sense of humor.
