Trudy Ballard, resident of Port Angeles, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Olympic Medical Center on October 8, her family at her side.
Trudy was born in Santa Monica, California, to Opal and William Hoover.
She was a graduate from Yakima Senior High School.
Trudy worked for Western Union in Yakima before moving to Port Angeles in 1960. She continued to work for Western Union until she took a position with the Peninsula Daily News, where she retired.
Her wedding to Kenneth E. Ballard took place in Reno, Nevada, on October 23, 1963.
Trudy loved to read, solve crossword puzzles and watch game shows and all sorts of movies. She also loved to crochet, sew and bake. She had been an active member of the Fairview Homemakers Club and the Port Angeles Senior Center.
She had many stories of growing up in Sekiu and Yakima.
She is survived by her children, Doug Ballard, Barry (Suzi) Ballard and Tina Ballard of Port Angeles; grandchildren Greg, Ryan and Tyler Ballard, Brooke Ballard, Jamie Horejsi and partner Alisha Ferro-May, and Jeremy Hulse; and great-grandchildren Conner, Chloe and Boe.
She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Lori) Hoover of Yakima, and sisters-in-law Maggie Hoover of Morton, Washington, and Anna Toth of Hoquiam, Washington.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ballard, and son, Duane Ballard.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 26, at the Eagles Lodge, 2843 East Myrtle Street, Port Angeles, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The family would like to thank Crestwood Convalescent Center and Olympic Medical Center for the loving care they gave her during her illness.
