Hazel Melinda Tarr, 91, former resident of Port Angeles, passed away at her home in Wasilla, Alaska, on Sunday, November 24, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Hazel was born February 27, 1921, in Taneyville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edward and Etta Bolling. She married George Ben Tarr on November 23, 1940.
She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, gardening, crocheting, card games and bowling, and was a three-time cancer survivor.
Hazel was preceded in death by George Tarr, her husband of 51 years.
Hazel is survived by her son, Owen Tarr, and daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Wasilla, Alaska; four grandchildren, Michael Tarr of Wasilla, Melanie Tarr of Anchorage, Alaska, Stefan Tarr of Newport, Oregon, and Chere Tarr of Bigelow, Arkansas; great-grandchildren Benjamin of Newport and Jakob and Nikki of Bigelow; as well as a brother and sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to extend their thank-you to the staff at Alzheimer's Resource of Alaska in Mat-Su Valley for their kind and caring service and support.
A private service will be held at Hatcher Pass in Alaska at a later date.
