Marguerite "Marge" was born July 16, 1911, in East Moline, Illinois, to Charles and Felicie Ghesquiere, and died January 24, 2014, in her home in Sequim at 102 years of age.
Marge grew up in Port Angeles, graduating from high school there. Prior to her marriage to D.J. Caulkins on July 2, 1935, she was a legal secretary. She and D.J. attended Queen of Angels Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Altar Society.
After moving to Forks in 1956, she was the bookkeeper for the D.J. Logging Company, which they owned and operated for many years. There, they were involved in bowling leagues, dance clubs and St. Anne Parish.
Retiring to SunLand in Sequim in 1976, they made many new friends and became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, always attending weekly Mass. They participated in many of the SunLand activities.
D.J. grew corn that he, Marge and their friends served at an annual corn feed for SunLand residents for several years. After D.J.'s passing in 1990, she enjoyed pinochle and the company of many of the ladies of the church.
God saw fit to send an "angel" to Marge a year and a half ago. Lee Cook lived with and cared for her with love and kindness, and treated her like her own.
Our family cannot find words enough to convey our heartfelt thanks. You're the best!
She was lovingly assisted by some very special people, including Lilli Hardesty, Gloria Pope, Candace Cade, Darlene Johnson and Annie Mcintyre, and we thank you as well. You were wonderful!
Her neighbor Eleanor Guion was a faithful friend, taking Marge to her weekly hair appointments and lunch, delivering the paper each morning and planting pink geraniums in the spring. She loved her times with you.
Marge is survived by her three children, Yvonne Moore of Forks, Danya Parker of Mount Vernon, Washington, and Wayne (Cheryl) Caulkins of Forks; seven grandchildren, Steve Moore of Forks, Debbie (Albert) Huggins of Forks, Donella Rogers of Wenatchee, Washington, Jeff (Sarah) Parker and Pamela Parker, both of Mount Vernon, Christine (Andy) Fouts of Forks and Kimberly Caulkins of Ellensburg, Washington; 12 great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Andrew, Stephanie, D.J., Jordon, Natalie, Nick, Kate, Jack, Nathan, Emily and Lane.
A memorial service for Marge will take place Friday, January 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 East Maple Street in Sequim.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's, P.O. box 1209, Sequim, WA 98382, or Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, 540 East Eighth St. Port Angeles, WA 98362.
