Mary Ann Lloyd (1938 - 2018)

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Mary Ann Lloyd, 80, died of kidney disease at OMC in Port Angeles on May 3, 2018. Mary was comforted by her loyal Cairn Terrier, Scruffy her, "Little Bum" and her "adopted" family and friends David and Cheri Lemley.

In honor of her request, no services will be held. Mary will be entombed in the Mountain View Mausoleum, Mount Angeles Memorial Park, in Port Angeles, next to her beloved husband Ronald J. Lloyd.

Mary was born on January 2, 1938, in Seattle, Washington, to Edwin and Mary Darling.

Mary graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1956. As a young woman of 18, Mary went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company; having made it her career, she retired as an administrator in telecommunications after 30 years of service at the age of 48.

On November 20, 1981, Mary and Ronald (Ron) Lloyd, whom also worked for the telephone company, were married.

Mary and her husband Ron moved to Sequim after retiring, where they then purchased acreage, and built their dream home on the backside of Bell Hill, Morgan Drive. As a couple, they enjoyed cruises to exotic places and camping. Mary was an avid seamstress and took pride in the making of many of her own clothes, blankets, and curtains. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, listening to KSQM on the radio, and to her records. Mary had a penchant for sweets, especially Oreo Double Stuffed cookies. Mary would share her cookies with anyone that would ask.

Mary was a lifetime member of Shipley center; pedicures with Rhonda, a highlight. Mary was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary and a widows club.

She loved fresh bouquets of flowers from her garden. She had a very giving heart, and though she suffered immensely with her disease, her true inner self came through in subtle and thoughtful ways. Mary had set a goal to reach 80 years. She did it!

Cheri and David Lemley took care of Mary and her needs, to the best of their ability, for as long as they possibly could. Mary lived her last 5 plus months at Sherwood in Sequim, and then her final month in hospice/comfort care at OMC.

Mary is survived by her older sister Marilyn Kunz, her Cairn Terrier, Scruffy, and the Lemley family.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Ronald J. Lloyd, her parents Edwin and Mary Darling, and her brother-in-law Mike Kunz.

We will live our lives keenly aware of how fragile life truly is. We will try to live fully, love much, and laugh often, as this is how we will wish to be remembered when it is our time. We will hold onto the fond memories and forget those we wish to forget. R.I.P. Mary, no more suffering, no more pain, Godspeed.
