Mary Elizabeth Greene, age 95, of Neah Bay passed away October 1, 2012. She was the oldest person in Neah Bay.

Mary was born to Augustus Bowechop and Anna Belle Butler on May 8, 1917, in Neah Bay.

She married Hamilton Greene on August 22, 1936. He preceded her in death.

She worked at Bay Fish and as the head cook for Neah Bay Elementary and High schools. She was also a master basket weaver. She was a member of the Assembly of God.

Mary had an endless sense of humor. We will have many treasured memories of her smile and laughter.

Ms. Greene is survived by daughters Annabelle Stallaby and Eileen Parker, sister Peggy Lewis and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother George Bowechop, sisters Emily Crittenden and Ann Gregory, and sons Lester Hamilton Greene and Patrick James Greene.

Services will be held today, October 7, 2012, at Assembly of God Church, 220 Third Street in Neah Bay. Viewing is at 10 a.m., and services start at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Makah Cemetery, and dinner will follow the graveside service at the community gym.
