He joined the United States Air Force after high school and served as a munitions specialist from 1962 through 1967.
After his service, he took employment as a beer and wine salesman, commercial fisherman and owner of his own excavation business.
He was first married to Carol Enos in 1961.
He married his second wife, Marjorie Rich, in 1976 in Port Angeles.
Randy loved life. Whether he was working, fishing, hunting, gardening or just "puttering," he always had a smile and a story for everyone.
Being a wonderful father in a large blended family came very naturally to him. He touched many lives during his time with us, and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him well.
He leaves behind his wife, Margie Helgeson; stepsons Richard (Linda) Cameron, Michael Cameron and David (Shirra) Cameron; daughters Kim (Neal) Redman, Rhonna Harrington and Stefani (Darren) Hauser; his stepfather, Ray Helgeson; sister Judy Rhoten; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Paynter, brother David "Jerry" Helgeson and mother Dorothy Marsh.
A graveside service will take place at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, 45 Monroe Road in Port Angeles, on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m.
Please come celebrate his life and share your memories with all who loved and knew him at Four Seasons Clubhouse, 673 Strait View Drive, Port Angeles, directly after the graveside service.
