Richard W. Liljedahl, 42, passed away on September 7, 2012.

He was born on February 20, 1970, in Port Angeles to H. Richard and Jean Liljedahl.

Rich spent much of his childhood at Kalaloch, where his father worked for the Olympic National Park service. He also grew up spending summers at Lake Sutherland with his family.

Rich attended and graduated from Crescent High School in 1988 and continued on to Peninsula College.

Rich worked at Seafirst/Bank of America for over 10 years in both Port Angeles and eventually in Seattle, where he lived for the last 15 years. Most recently, he worked over five years at S & S Advanced Metal Technologies in Bellevue.

Rich enjoyed traveling, especially to tropical destinations like Hawaii. He loved the beach and the roaring surf, and Kalaloch remained one of his favorite places on Earth — a place where he felt most at peace.

He also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, cleaning his already-shiny car, nice clothes, dinner parties with friends and playing games with family that made him laugh until he cried.

Rich loved to laugh and made everyone around him laugh, too. He had a great sense of humor, and the more inappropriate the comedy, the better it was in his eyes!

Everyone who knew and loved Rich knew that he was meticulously clean and organized. His car, house, clothes — everything was pristine. His life may not have been perfect, but he was perfect to us.

We will love and miss him always. He left this world a much better — and definitely tidier — one.

Rich is survived by his mother, Jean Liljedahl; sisters Lisa Liljedahl Partridge (Brad) and Carol Liljedahl, all of Port Angeles; his sister Vicki Hinrichs (Carl) of Harrison, Arkansas; nephews Ryan Schroeder, Andrew Partridge, Weston Partridge and Carl Hinrichs (Meghan); and nieces Brynn Partridge, Julie Schmidt (Mark) and Trisha Weaver (Jesse). He was also close with his aunt and uncle, June and Dave Erickson; and cousins Joe Hart (Valerie) and Sanda Hart.

Rich was preceded in death by his father, Henry Richard Liljedahl.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Center for AIDS Research, University of Washington, at; or the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society at P.O. Box 3124, Port Angeles, WA 98363.

A celebration of Rich's life will be held at the Red Lion Hotel in the Juan de Fuca Room, 221 North Lincoln Street, Port Angeles, on Saturday, September 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
