Sally Palmer of Port Angeles passed away from cancer on April 23, 2014.
She was born in Buffalo, New York, on July 10, 1924, to Melville C. Selleck and Caroline (Bush) Selleck.
Sally attended Green Mountain College, where she attained her associate degree.
She moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 1969 and took employment with Olympic National Park, which she retired from in 1987.
She met her husband, Leonard Dean Palmer Jr., at the Klahhane Hiking Clubhouse, and they were married in September of 1970. They enjoyed many years of hiking and skiing in the Olympics with the hiking club members.
During vacations, they traveled in their trailer with the dog throughout the continental United States, Canada and Alaska. In her later years, she was actively involved at the Port Angeles Senior Center.
Her beloved husband preceded her in death in October 2005.
She is survived by her brother and a cousin.
A memorial service officiated by the Reverend Ted Mattie will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362, with a reception to follow.
Memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian.
She will be laid to rest at Ocean View Cemetery in Port Angeles.
