Dorothy Schmuck of Port Angeles passed away on February 10, 2013, at the age of 85, of respiratory failure. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born July 12, 1927, in Seattle. She grew up in the Seattle area, later moving to Port Angeles and graduating from Port Angeles High School in 1945.

Dorothy was married to Jack Filion of Port Angeles from 1946 to 1968 and to Max A. Schmuck Jr. of Port Angeles from 1969 until the time of his death in 1994.

She worked as a clerk at the Clallam County Courthouse and later worked for many years as a licensed nurse's aide and home health care assistant.

Dorothy was a member St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 40-year member of Mount Pleasant Grange. She served for many years on the PTA, the Y Circle and as a leader in the Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls organizations.

Dorothy will be sadly missed and warmly remembered by her children, Randy Filion of Seattle, Lucy Filion of Port Angeles, Ken (Patti) Filion of Port Angeles and Diane Filion and Joan McDowd of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Geoff Filion, Jenny (Aaron) Louch, Nancy Filion and Patrick Collins, Jackie (Andy) Millican, Frankie Priest and Jess Galland, Jacob Filion, Candy Filion, Shawna Filion and Justin (Amy) Filion; by her great-grandchildren, Allison, Makenna, Brady, Miles, Tate, AJ, Jaden, Taylor, Jake, Tadd, Trina, Jordan, Garrett, Bella and Zoe; and by her great-great-granddaughter, Josie.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her son Gary Filion; and her grandson Jason Filion.
