Pedro "Pete" Olvera of Sequim passed away at the age of 83 with his loved ones by his side.
He was born on February 19, 1930, to Francisco De Las Flores Olvera and Maria Reyes Moreno Castellon.
Pete was a very patient and skilled man, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge by teaching welding and auto body work. He also did maintenance work and was a "Jack of all trades."
In his spare time, Pete enjoyed watching sports, boxing in particular. He also loved walks on the beach and spending time with family and friends.
He was married to Haydee B. Olvera (now deceased) for 38 years.
Pete remarried in 1991 to Laura Olvera. The pair spent 21 very happy years together before his sudden passing.
He was a member of the Sequim Worship Center and the California School Employees Association.
Pete leaves behind his loving wife of 21 years, Laura M. Olvera of Sequim; his son, Peter Olvera Jr.; stepson Max Christopher Johnson; daughters Sandra B. Fike, Haydee Huerta and Elizabeth B. Olvera; stepdaughters Laurie B. (Manny) Martinez and Jessica Johnson (Andy) Petty; brothers Alejo Murillo and Rafael Murillo; sister Regina R. Murillo; grandchildren Samuel P. Huerta, Rachel Mendoza, Melissa Flowers, Brittany K. Miranda, Peter Olvera III, Alexandria Moreno, Baylee Blanca Martinez and Taylar Lee Martinez; and great-grandchildren Evan Scott Flowers, Ernie Miranda, Eliana Mendoza and Malia Olvera.
Pete is preceded in death by his first wife, Haydee Bernal Olvera; parents Francisco and Maria Olvera; daughter Maria Reyes Olvera; brother Senon Olvera; and sisters Ana Maria Murillo and Margarita Olvera.
There will be a celebration of Pete's life on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Sequim Worship Center, 640 North Sequim Avenue. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Room.
