Beatrice Holleck of Sequim lived a full life and passed away at home on May 18, 2013, at the age of 96.

She and her husband, Joe, came to the North Olympic Peninsula 43 years ago and lived on a farm and later in several homes in the Sequim area. They were active members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Bea was married to Joe Holleck, the love of her life, for 60 years. Joe passed in 2000 on their 60th wedding anniversary at age 92. Together, they loved to travel to places around the world, to dance and to be together.

Bea was an avid reader and a cat lover. She had a warm smile that lit up her eyes for her friends. She worked beautiful needlepoint pictures. The last seven years of her life, she lived with her caregiver, Jackie Robinson, and the two enjoyed travel and cruises together.

Bea was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John Walter Male and Josephine Helen Labus Male on December 6, 1916. She married Joseph Holleck on October 12, 1940, and the two of them enjoyed 60 years of love.

Bea is survived by her niece, Jo-Ann Menet of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; her nephews, Frank Male of Eudora, Kansas, and Nick Holleck of Skokie, Illinois; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Frank S. Male.

A celebration of Bea's life will be held on Saturday, June 8, at the Fifth Avenue, 500 Hendrickson Road in Sequim, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to come and share memories and stories of Bea. At her request, no other services will be held.
