Leigh Gorham, 86, passed away on November 27, 2013, surrounded by family.
Leigh was born Wanda Leigh Murphie on March 9, 1927, in Montesano, Washington, to Edward and Lauretta Murphie, and joined her big brother, Donald, whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Alisa.
Leigh attended school in Montesano and then moved to Forks, where she met and married Carter Warren on January 17, 1948. They lived in Forks, where they raised their three children, Tara, Tim and Stephen. She attended St. Anne Catholic Church.
Leigh loved Forks, the people and, yes, even the rain. Leigh was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed her work at Pay-N-Save and volunteered at the food bank.
Leigh and Carter loved to travel, play golf and visit their children.
Leigh loved spending time beachcombing and camping with her family and friends. She started walking with her good friend Jolene and later joined with a number of friends. She continued to walk daily for more than 40 years.
In 1993, Carter passed away.
In 1995, she married Jim Gorham and gained another family. Jim and Leigh loved visiting all their children and traveling. Jim passed away in 2004.
Leigh continued living in Forks and remained happy and active with the love of all her friends. The last chapter of her life was spent traveling and enjoying life with friend Detta.
Leigh's joy for life, smile and laughter will be missed by all.
Leigh is survived by her brother, Donald Murphie of Seattle, Washington; children Tara (Lyle) Howell of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Tim (Dianna) Warren of Beaver, Washington, and Stephen (Marilyn) Warren of Port Angeles; stepchildren Mike (Kathleen) Gorham of Seattle and Patty (Ken) Holtz of Mount Vernon, Washington; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Leigh's name to the Forks Food Bank. P.O. Box 933, Forks, WA 98331.
