Dolores Evans Holmes was born in North Carolina, July 6, 1939, to Mildred and Cledy Evans. Although she was raised in New York City, she lived out her final years in Navarre, FL. She loved writing mystery novels dealing with the military. She worked for five years as a civilian clerk in the New York City police headquarters before working with the federal government. Her assignments during her 32 year career included Army and Naval bases, military hospitals, federal agencies, military and civilian medical research facilities. She retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in September 1996 as a human resources management specialist. Her hobbies include fine art, music, traveling, writing. She survived by her son, Jonathan, daughter-in-law, Pamela, two grandchildren, Jonathan, Jr. and Jasmine, two sisters, Saundra and Patricia, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2014 from 1:30 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
