Burch, Geraldine
Geraldine Bryan Burch 1931-2016 Geraldine Bryan Burch 1931-2016 On the evening of April 25, 2016, Geraldine Bryan Burch, age 84, passed away after a full, blessed life. Geraldine was born in Elba, Alabama on October 21, 1931 to the late Ruby Lee Crocker Bryan and Dewey Chester (Bill) Bryan. As the oldest of three children, she found her maternal instincts young. She met and married the love of her life, A.J. Burch, and had two children, Dannie and Billy (Bam). In 1954, they moved to Pensacola to work at Chemstrand and to raise their family. For many years she worked for Chemstrand, spent a few years working in shoe sales and wore many hats for Burch Laboratory. She was not only a loving mother, but also a best friend to her children. Every Saturday was spent making fried chicken, okra, collard greens and fried green tomatoes fresh from her garden for the golf group that would gather at her house. If it was a Saturday in the fall, it was followed by watching an Alabama football game and eating one of her many famous cobblers. Geraldine was the number one fan of not only her son's baseball teams, but also her granddaughter Alli's softball teams. She could be seen at every home game sitting behind home plate keeping score on her note pad. She also enjoyed many other sports, from fishing with her husband to bowling in a league with her best friends. Geraldine delighted in being a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a faithful, long-time member of Plainview Baptist Church, where she for a time chaired the hospitality committee, enjoying every minute of it. She received many blessings while worshipping at Plainview, including last year when the pastor, Pastor Bill Flannigan, conducted the marriage ceremony of her granddaughter. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Burch, daughter Dannie Viann Burch Moye and sister-in-law, Brunice Bryan. She is survived by her son, Billy Bryan Burch (Linda), granddaughter, Allison Burch Skelton (Charles), sister Dot Milner (John) and brother, Rex Bryan. Memorial donations may be made to Plainview Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or your favorite charity. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Plainview Baptist Church, 1101 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, Florida 32534. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola. Special thanks to Laura Jefferson, Wanda Calland and Nancy O'Neil for not only taking care of her so well, but for loving her so well. Thanks to the entire staff and residents of Summer Vista for giving Geraldine a beautiful place to enjoy with her family. Gratitude to the staff of Joyce Goldenberg Covenant Hospice for their comfort, kindness and care. Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits

Forte, Margaret
Margaret "Dixie" Dickson Forte 07/03/1924 - 03/23/2016 Margaret Dickson Forte, affectionately known as "Dixie" or "Mamaw", of Pensacola, FL went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2016. When Dixie was a young girl she had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Dixie was born in Corinth, MS on July 3, 1924 to Ella Ross and Leander W. Dickson. Upon graduating from Corinth High School in 1942, she moved to Pensacola, FL, where she began work as a clerk/typist at Pensacola Naval Air Station until 1949. She met and married the love of her life, Raymond Roper Forte, in 1945. They shared 60 years together until she was widowed October 16, 2005. She was devoted to Raymond in establishing various business endeavors such as starting the first local soft ice cream shop in Pensacola, then later assisting with and building the successful Raymond Forte Construction Company. Her talents included, but were not limited to, drawing of house plans, interior designing and bookkeeping. One of her personal skills included doing seamstress work for her daughter and granddaughters for many years. Dresses and formal gowns were her specialty. She was also on the decorating committee of the Pensacola Christian Women's Business Club. One of her favorite joys was bowling where she served in several capacities. She dearly loved traveling with her teammates to various tournaments. She has multiple bowling patches for exceptional playing. Another one of her enjoyments was golf, which she shared many tee times with her sister, Edith Caroline "Dee Dee" Salatas and friends. Dixie made a hole-in-one on #15 at Osceola Golf Course on December 6, 1983. Dixie also was recognized for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the Sunshine Volunteers at West Florida Hospital. Not only did Dixie and Ray travel all over the United States and abroad, they also spent extensive time at their second home. She would often exclaim, "There is no way of knowing how many fish that Ray caught at The Camp' or how many I have fried for him". Some of her fond recollections would have been teasing family members with athletic abilities and various talents to "play pretty," "fly pretty" or "act pretty". Dixie was blessed with a youthful appearance due to her beautiful hair and flawless complexion as commented upon by many through the years. Another proud moment for Dixie was when she became a great, great grandmother to Zane Justus Galea in 2014. She was witty and fun - some had even given her the nickname, "Winn Dixie". She is survived by her daughter, Donna Forte Roberts (Gene) of Seminole, AL; her son, Ross Douglas Forte (Rosemary), Pensacola, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their families: Laura (Jay) Bell and children, Brianna (James) Galea and son Zane Galea, Brantley (Michaela) Bell, and Brock Bell; Paige (Lt. Col. Philip) Eilertson and children, Grace, Brent and Faith Eilertson; Raymond (Jacquelyn) Forte and children, Teresa and Jude Forte; Joseph (Stefanie) Forte; David (Mallory) Forte and son Jackson Forte; Kevin (Maggie) Forte; Paula Forte. Dixie loved and was loved deeply by many, but especially her close friends Jean Wright and Wanda Moore. A special thanks is given to the many Care Givers at various facilities as well as Emerald Coast Hospice. For those who were unable to attend, a celebration service commemorating her life was held on March 26, 2016 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Gene Roberts, her son-in-law, officiated at the service, which included reflections from her Pastor at Milestone Baptist Church, Jim Harris. Granddaughter, Laura Bell, read one of Dixie's favorite devotions from Jesus Calling. She along with Granddaughter, Paige Eilertson, shared several memories about "Mamaw". Great Grandson, Brock Bell, read thoughts from Great Granddaughter, Brianna Bell Galea. Great Granddaughter, Faith E. Eilertson, read a poem that was dear to "Mamaw". Great Granddaughter, Grace Eilertson, and Great Grandson, Brent Eilertson, assisted in handing out words to the song "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". Also "Peace in the Valley" was played on a sound system provided by Grand Son- in-law, Philip Eilertson. In closing, Grandson-in-law, Jay Bell, shared fond memories of "Mamaw" and shared the Gospel. Dixie would be delighted if donations were made to Emerald Coast Hospice or Milestone Baptist Church in her memory. Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits
