1934 - 2014



Alfred Leo Halpin, SCPO, US Navy (Ret.), of Pace, Florida passed away, Tuesday, January 21, 2014. He was 79.

He was born in Morristown, New Jersey to Alfred Leo Halpin, Jr. and Albert Hughson Halpin.

He is preceded in death by a son, Alfred Leo Halpin IV; his father, mother and many aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Stewart Halpin, Pace, FL; daughters, Veronica Sadowski (Joey), Swansboro, NC and Alicia Maddox, South Haven, MS; stepsons, Craig Stewart (Joy), Pace, FL and Mark Stewart (Tina), Pace, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Ronald Nelson Halpin, Pensacola; and a special friend, Lt. Commander (Ret) Keith Nowlin (Shirley), Sierra Vista, AZ.

Senior Chief Halpin served in the Navy for 30 years, with many tours overseas. He also worked with civil service for 12 years before retiring for a second time in 1996. Mr. Halpin loved to travel with his wife, Shirley, in their motorhome and spending time with his family. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, fishing, camping and playing golf.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 with visitation at 12:00 p.m., at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.

Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.

Honorary pallbearers will be close friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 2001 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
