- May 10, 2014

Surrounded by her family, Beatrice "Bea" Branch Shaffer died on May 10, 2014 at age 77. She was born in El Reno, Oklahoma on September 18, 1936. A memorial service will be held at Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home on (May 16th from 5-7 p.m.)

Preceded in death by her brother Billy Calvin Branch and sister Peggy Giebler, Bea is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard "Dick" Shaffer, daughters Beverly Parsons (Jonathan) and Debora Brown, sisters Claudetta Lawhorn (Cliff), Lorece Ehrlich (Lilburn), Leota Anderson (Gene), brother Leroy Branch (Norma), sister in law Patricia Branch (Jack), grandchildren Ashley Hassler (Matthew), Vanessa Duncan, and Candace Rorrer (Jared), and great grandchildren Logan, Dylan, Vonn, Jase, and Annabelle, along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

As a devoted Navy wife, Bea lived around the world with her young family. Based in Hawaii, Japan, Newfoundland and many different states, Dick and Bea settled in Pensacola in 1970. She loved to sew, bake, tend to her garden, and enjoyed bird watching. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with the little ones. All that knew her will remember her as a caring, giving, and selfless woman. Those who remember her from Cloth World, Montgomery Ward, and Diamond Illusions will remember her as a thoughtful, creative, and kind-hearted person.

We will remember her as the one who listened to all of our cares and worries, the one who helped at a moment's notice, the one who bound us all together: Bea-Bea, Sis, Mom, Grandma... She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, who taught us all how to grow, how to accept, how to love. Through her every day actions, she taught us how to be better people and we will always miss her.
