BENJAMIN BLAIR

1927 - 2013

Benjamin Blair, 86 a resident of Pensacola, passed on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Mr. Blair was born to L D and Hattie Blair on September 30, 1927 in Cushing,OK. During his senior year at Booker T. Washington High School in Cushing,OK, Ben lead his Basketball Team to a National Black High School Boys Championship in 1946. He was the Most Valuable Player of the NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AS WELL AS ALL -AMERICANS that year. His Team's 4 year record was 180 WINS AND 8 LOSSES. Ben studied at Langston University, then known as Langston College. He was a retired Korean War Veteran of the United State Air Force and later owned

and Operated a Gulf Service Station located on the corner of A and Cervantes Streets.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Frances Blair, one son; Ronald Pettis (Claudette) Blair of Stillwater, OK, one step-son, Hardie Alexander (Ann) White of Langley, WA. One step­ daughter: Kimberly White-Munlyn of Pensacola, Florida, numerous grand and great­ grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Blair was a faithful and dedicated member of the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Trustee Leader until his health failed him. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013, 12 i;loon at Sixth Avenue Baptist

Church, with Rev. Dr. Michael J. Johnson, Sr. Pastor officiating. Viewing will be held one hour

prior to services. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Friends may call at Joe Morris and Son Funeral Home from 12 Noon - 9:00 p.m.,Thursday, December 26, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Blair Scholarship Fund, Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, '1 1120 North 6th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
