Emily Knight Arnold Bell, died Friday, November 29, 2013. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Metz Arnold on October 21, 1919. She was a life-long resident of Pensacola and grew up in the Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, later joining First Presbyterian Church after her marriage to Dr. James A Bell. James Bell was truly the love of her life.
Her career in dental assisting spanned many years. She helped organize the local Dental Assistants Association, serving as president for a term, and was in the first class to become a Certified Dental Assistant in Pensacola. She also served on the board of the YWCA, and was president for a term. A strong supporter of the Pensacola Little Theater, she was a charter member of the PLT Guild, serving as president. Mrs. Bell loved Pensacola and was proud of its history. She was active in the Heritage Foundation and in the Pensacola Historical Society.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her nieces, Carolyn Barnes Chamberlain, Susan Barnes, Cyndi Mauney, Susan Lyon and Ina Dawn Arnold Bazzell; by nephews Metz Arnold and Kevin Barnes; and by her step-daughters Beverly Achurch and Mary Evelyn Bell as well as many great nieces, great nephews and great grandchildren.
She was a true southern lady and leaves behind many loving friends and neighbors." Mimi" was the adoptive grandmother of many children over the years. Especially dear to her heart were the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of West Florida.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 4th at three o'clock in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church.
