JAMES M. ARMSTRONG
August 23, 1954 -
On June 29, 2011, James Mitchell Armstrong "Mitch" died peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Mitch was born on August 23, 1954 in Pensacola, Florida and graduated from Woodham High School in 1973. His talents and love of music began at an early age. In the fourth grade, he had formed a full band and played at the Pensacola State Fair. He perfected his musical talents and went on to play with multiple bands in the area. He was an excellent guitarist and later mastered the pedal steel guitar, which was his instrument of choice in more recent years. He will be greatly missed in the music community.
Mitch was preceded in death by his father Grady Armstrong, grandfather and grandmother James and Vera Gentry. He is survived by his mother Virgina "Mickie" Waren, uncle Ed Gentry, sister Vickie Armstrong Jackson, brother David Armstrong, son Ryan Armstrong, faithful companion, Wanda Davis as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition, the family would like to honor his closest friends who were like family over the years and the wonderful caring staff of Baptist Hospital CCU and NWFL Hospice.
There will be a visitation from 4pm-6pm Friday, July 1, 2011 at Bayview Chapel on Scenic Hwy. The funeral will be at the same location on Saturday July 2, 2011 at 1pm.
