James H. "Jimmy" Little, Jr. died March 17, 2014 at age 66.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. (Duke) Little and Betty Biggs Little Hite.

Survivors include his sister, Blair Little Stephenson; his remarkable friend, Cindy Merrill and many other family members.

A natural born leader, Jimmy graduated from the Citadel as Cadet Regimental Executive Officer. He was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He joined the Army and attending Ranger School, then deployed to Alaska to serve as an Arctic Ranger. Korea followed where he was Company Commander as 1st Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in 1974.

His life became seriously derailed, and despite circumstances far from the best, he ultimately recovered, his old self surfacing: he was giving, had a great sense of humor, and was fun and personable, a magnet for rallying others. Sensitive to others, Jimmy had a warm heart and did his to best to help those who were struggling. He conducted sessions on "right" thinking: how to conduct oneself and to recognize the connection of actions and consequences. He was a Certified Law Clerk for about 20 years until his death. He was humble, never touting his own accomplishments. His efforts to help others was most often revealed by the recipients of his actions. It became apparent that this behavior began long ago, and simply was ingrained in his being.

It is not the circumstances of our lives, but how we CHOOSE to react to them, that will get us through. Acceptance of this tenet was a core principle for Jimmy. He never complained.

He was so easy to love. He and his sister shared an unusually strong bond; they wished all siblings could be so fortunate. He served his country honorably, was a good man and friend.

A military honors service is slated for Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10:15am sharp at Barrancas National Cemetery.
