Jerome (Jerry) C. Salmons
June 12, 1931-
Mr. Jerome (Jerry) C. Salmons, 83, of Milton, died at home Thursday, May 15, 2014. He was born in Shelbyville, Illinois, June 12, 1931 to Clifford and Velma Salmons. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Elmo High School. He was married 51 years to the former Donna Joy Pruett. Jerry and Donna raised a family in St. Elmo, Illinois before transferring to Milton, Florida where he retired from Exxon Mobile as a field superintendent.
Jerry loved the Florida sunshine, growing flowers, working in his yard, and raising beautiful fantail pigeons.
Along with his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife Donna Joy Salmons, (in 2000); and his brother, Jim Salmons, of Dallas, Texas.
Jerry is survived by three daughters: Jody Brian (Andy) of Pittsfield, Mass., Janis Golden (Keith) of Pensacola, and Jill Youngblood (Felton) of Milton; his sister, Rita Haslett (Kenny) of Tyler, Texas; 5 grandchildren,
1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 6830 Berryhill Street, Milton, Florida, 32570. Please join family and friends for a reception following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Please perform a random act of kindness in honor of Jerry. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
