Joe Beall Ladner


1924 - 2013

Joe Beall Ladner, age 89, of Pensacola, FL, passed away, Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was born May 13, 1924 in Lumberton, Mississippi to the late Guy E. and Lessie B. Ladner.

Joe was a PHS graduate. He married the love of his life, Vivian B. Ladner, on May 24, 1945 in his present home church, First Baptist Church of Pensacola. Joe was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1940, where he served as a deacon and deacon emeritus for 69 years. Joe and Vivian led a young married couples group for a number of years. He also served as chairman and as a member of the church building committee, beginning in the early 1940's for many years. Joe was a member of the Heritage Club, which recognizes church members of over 50 years.

Joe worked for the Naval Public Works Center at the Pensacola Naval Air Station for 33 years. He was an avid quail and turkey hunter for many years. He was a talented trumpet player, enjoyed working in the garden, keeping honey bees, playing tennis, square dancing and travelled the U.S. and Canada with his wife, visiting friends and family.

Joe was married to his wife for 65 years prior to her death.

Survivors include his son, John Ladner (Sue) of Deltona, FL; three grandchildren, Stephanie Alford of Pensacola, FL, Rachel Garner of Crestview, FL and Joshua Ladner of Colorado Springs, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Howard and Rev. Bill Santo officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
