Laurajean Smith Mills
Laurajean S. Mills, of Melbourne, FL passed away in the early evening hours at her home on Thursday, November 29, 2012. She was 94 years old. Laurajean was a native of Pittsburgh, PA, but has been a full time resident of Florida since 1944. She was a Past Royal Matron of
Poinsettia Ct, #19 (Order of Amaranth), of Lake Worth, FL, as well as its last surviving charter member. Laurajean was also a Past Royal Matron of The Eastern Star, Lake Worth Chapter#111.
She is survived by her daughter, Marti Garza and favorite son-in-law, Fred of Melbourne, FL; a son, David Mills, and favorite daughter-in-law, Rhonda, of Opelika, AL; seven grandchildren, Laura and Michael Garza, and his wife, Diany, Jessica, Rebecca, DJ, Dakota and Montana Mills; four great-grandchildren, John, Kyra, Andrew and Alyssa Garza. In addition, Laurajean will be remembered by extended family members living in the Pensacola and southeastern Alabama areas.
Visitation will be held at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Pkwy in Pensacola on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 12 noon to 1 P.M. with the funeral service immediately following. Rev. Bill Flannigan will officiate. The service will conclude at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband of 57 years, MSgt Rupert L. Mills.
