Leon Singleton

1952-2014

Reverend Leon Singleton was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended school and graduated from Alexander Vocational School. He received his associate degree from Southern Christian University. At an early age, he joined Bridge Street AMEW Church, Brooklyn, NY. Later he joined Allen Chapel AME Church in Pensacola, Florida. May 1998 he was called in the ministry. He served at various churches for 11 years: Saint Mark AME Church, DeFuniak Springs, Florida; Mt. Olive AME Church, Red Bay, Florida; Saint Joseph AME Church, Chipley, Florida; St. Luke AME Church, Vernon,Florida; Greater Saint Joseph AME Church, DeFuniak Springs, Florida; and Greater Mount Pleasant, Florida.

He leaves in God's hands his wife, Ida Elizabeth Sessions Singleton; two daughters, Myra Elizabeth Singleton (Tampa, Florida) and Stacey Ann Singleton (Tampa, Florida); Father, Charles Willie Singleton (Brooklyn, New York); Sister, Lu Alice Love (Queens, New York). His mother, Catherine Richardson-Singleton, preceded him death. Too, there are three god children - Christopher Fairley, Brianna Alliyah Poulard and Tyrel Smith, one sister-in-law - Valeria Ann Sessions-Collins (Fayetteville, NC) , one brother-in-law - Isaac Collins (Fayetteville, NC), six nieces, five nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.

His favorite scriptures were Psalm 23 and Psalm 27.

The family wishes to express their heart felt appreciation to Bay Breeze Assisted Living Facility and Covenant Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Joyce Goldberg Hospice inpatient Residence.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Allen Chapel AME, 500 N. Guillemard, Pensacola, FL with Reverend Freddie Tellis officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
