Mary Louise Carr, "Mama Carr", "Miss Lou Lou", 89, of Pensacola, died April 05, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rayville, LA on August 01, 1924 to Riley E. Hopkins, Sr. and Ada Hopkins Turnage. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, J.P. Turnage, Sr.; husband, Donald C. Carr, Sr.; brother, Riley E. Hopkins, Jr.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Doris Bercaw. She is survived by her children; Ruth J. Wessel, Donald C. Carr, Jr. (Barbara), John S. Carr (Robin) and Richard T. Carr; grandchildren, Stephanie Carr Crosby (Tod), Stacey Carr Ingram and Catherine Carr Hyde (Jeff); great grandchildren Camden Scott Hyde, Carson Blake Hyde and Elizabeth Catherine Hyde; sister-in-law, Gloria J. Hopkins; nieces, Sheryl Lynn Bell (Steven), Susan Estelle Bercaw, Macey Lee Bercaw Baird; and nephew David Lamont Bercaw (Sue).
During World War II she packed parachutes at Selman Field Air Force Base in Monroe, LA, where she met and married her husband, Donald C. Carr, Sr. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Pensacola.
Of her many accomplishments she was the owner of Lou Doe's Deli and Garden Street Deli, where she enjoyed visiting with friends and customers.
Her family was her utmost concern, she loved going to the casino, playing poker with family and friends and going to her favorite place, City Grocery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Tamburro, his staff and all the nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital that cared for her with much love and compassion; especially Allen, Te, Patrick, Shalanda, and Mitch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sacred Heart Foundation/NICU at PO Box 2700 Pensacola, FL 32513.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 08, 2014 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel from 5 until 7 in the evening. The memorial service will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Wednesday, April 09, 2014 at 10am. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
