Master Sergeant Melvin
Master Sergeant Melvin Joseph Kibodeaux, 81, of Pensacola, FL passed away on June 23. 2014 at Arcadia Rehabilitation Center. He was born in the small town of Egan, LA where he learned how to become a man who stood for honor, integrity and pride. He went on to serve our great country with the Marine Corps. He earned many medals and honors during his career. During his career in the Marines he held the honor of Crew Chief for Marine One for four of our Presidents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Kibodeaux (Pensacola, FL); his brother, Calvin Kibodeaux (LA); his two sons, Melvin Joseph Kibodeaux (Quitman, GA) and Henry Kibodeaux (Pensacola, FL); his three daughters, Linda LaDieu (Pensacola, FL), Charlotte Lane (Phoenix, AZ),and Shelia Thornhill (Pensacola, FL); one stepson, William Douglas (Stapleton, AL) and two stepdaughters, Lynn Silvers (Pensacola ,FL) and Tonya Swire (LaGrange, GA). He was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Agnes Kibodeaux and his wife of nearly 50 years, Christine Kibodeaux; brothers, Russell Clifton and CJ Kibodeaux and one sister, Sadie Vincent.
We have lost an amazing man today, who has served his family and his country with Honor, Integrity and Pride. He will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Fr. Eugene Casserly officiating. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest by his wife Christine.
