Peter John (Stathopoulos) Stathis, 82, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully Friday, October 18, 2013 with family at his side.

Peter was born on April 12, 1931 in Chicago, IL. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from March 25, 1948 until his Honorable Discharge on July 2, 1954. While in the service, he was a Field Radio Operator in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 1 Star, United Nations Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. After his service, Peter worked as a Salesman for Duratest and was awarded Salesman of the Year in 1972 and rose to Sales Manager before his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 11 years, Helen Makris Stathopoulos.

Survivors include his two sons, John Peter Stathis (Jil) of San Diego, CA and Dennis Stathis of Chicago, IL; four grandsons, Peter John Stathis (Anne) of Dallas, TX, Alexander John Stathis of Fullerton, CA, Nicholas John Stathis and Christopher John Stathis both of San Diego, CA; as well as a great grandson, John Peter Stathis of Dallas, TX.

Visitation will be held 5-7pm Monday, October 28, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Trisagion Service to begin at 6:30pm.

Funeral Service will be held 12:30pm Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1720 W. Garden St., Pensacola, FL 32502 with Fr. Matthew Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with Full Marine Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504 or to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1720 W. Garden St., Pensacola, FL 32502.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Covenant Hospice for their compassionate care for "Mr. Pete".
