Rosemarie Alberti died on August 26, 2011. She was born on November 4, 1926, in the Bronx, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband Nick Alberti, her brother Peter Anthony Porto and his wife Mary, her nephew Louis Anthony Porto, and her mom and dad, Amelia Marie and Louis Anthony Porto.
She is survived by 5 nephews: Larry Porto and his wife Cathy, Randy Porto and his wife Nancy, Kerry Porto and his wife Paula, Jonathon Porto, her favorite nephew Christopher Porto, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Aunt Rose was proud to be Italian American. She loved Joe DiMaggio, the Yankees, Frank Sinatra, watching old movies, and reminiscing about life in New York, ending most stories with a wistful "we used to be able to get a hot dog for a nickel."
Special thanks to her neighbors Larry Bonifay and Dorothy Marshall for their support, and to Covenant Hospice for making her comfortable in her last weeks.
A special remembrance pot luck dinner will be held for family and friends on Wednesday evening, September 21, at East Pensacola Heights Community Center, 3208 East Gonzalez Street, at 5:30 pm. Bring a dish and a memory.
