Sarah Wynder Haynes Ph.D.

Sarah Wynder Haynes, Ph.D.

October 5, 1931 Sarah Wynder Haynes, Ph.D. was born to the late Enos Wynder, Sr. and Phyllis Theresa Hamilton Wynder, in Pensacola, Florida. On July 16, 2013 she was called to be with her best friend and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born the fifth of seven children, Sarah's light shined as a beautiful, smart, feisty, adventurous and head strong child. She would later blossom to become a giver, a teacher and global traveler.

Sarah loved the Lord and has always been active in the church. She was a faithful member of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

Sarah worked in the Escambia County School System for 44 years where she served as an educator and Librarian.

She was married to Charles Haynes for 41 years prior to his passing in 1997 and they had four beautiful children.

Sarah was an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for more than 63 years. She was also a life member of The Links, Inc., N.A.A.C.P., and the National Council of Negro Women. She was formerly a member of Pensacola Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and Kiwanis of Big Lagoon.

Though, she has departed from this life as we know it, we rejoice in her new life with Christ. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Phyllis Charlene Haynes-Kinion (Arthur) of Corinth, Texas; and three sons, Eric Ricardo Haynes (Chonta) of Tampa, Florida, caregivers Cedric Wynder Haynes (Machelle) of Pensacola, Florida, Chauncy Emerson Haynes of Tallahassee, Florida and brother Gilbert Wynder (Voncile), of Pensacola, Florida.
