Terry Ivan Baker


Terry Ivan Baker was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida and died on April 15, 2014 after a courageous 7 year battle with Parkinson's disease. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and was a retiree of the City of Pensacola Fire Department. He served 33 years with the fire department and retired as Battalion Chief in 2005. In addition, he was a general contractor for over 25 years.

He is survived by his mother Margaret Baker, wife Theresa Baker, brother Melvin Gentry (Mary Lou Gentry), sister Linda Trawick (Bobby Trawick), son Brian Baker (Linda Powell) grandson Ryan Baker, daughter Tara Jones (Michael Jones) granddaughter Lola Jones, daughter Rachel Williams (Darrin Williams) and grandson Darrin Williams II.

He was a faithful member of Olive Baptist Church for 34 years. Terry will be remembered by his devoted journey with Christ and unconditional love for his family and friends. He lived a life full of integrity, sincerity and compassion for others. He was a humble servant to his fellow man. Terry enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, and the numerous mission trips he took over the years.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice and Kyra Lewis who were the angels that helped care for Terry during the past year and a half.

Visitation will be held on Monday April 21 at Olive Baptist Church from 5:00pm- 7:00pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday April 22 at 10:00am at Olive Baptist. Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Ministry Village at Olive Baptist Church, www.ministryvillage.org or Emerald Coast Hospice 1555 N Palafox Street Pensacola, FL 32501.
