Una Mae Douglass McKinley, 91, of Pensacola passed away on February 26, 2014. She was born on December 12, 1922 to Una and Theodore in Coronado Beach (now known as New Smyrna Beach), FL. Una grew up on the island and spent most summers in the mountains of Hendersonville, NC with her beloved aunts and Uncle Ernest and where her cousin, Corrie, still resides. She graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1940 and began working for Mr. Sams, a Shell Oil Distributor in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Una married Michael Herald and became stepmother to four children. Una and her husband were blessed with five children who Una raised alone when her husband died in 1964. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Joe Patti's Seafood and the American Cancer Society until she retired from the tax collector's office.
Una lived for her children and provided love and support always.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas, Michael and Roddy John (Lori) and daughters, Alinda-Nell and Patricia Ann. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren who were blessed with the Angel we all called "Ma".
Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until funeral service begins at 4:00 p.m. all on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the funeral home.
