Woody Kirby(1949 - 2014)

Woody Kirby

1949-2014

Woody Kirby passed away on February 21, 2014, from complications following his second brave fight with cancer. He had just celebrated his 65th birthday. He leaves a lifetime of lasting memories to those who loved him, namely his devoted and loving wife Debbie, children Natalie & Alexander, and sister Patti. He was preceded in death by his father Robert, mother Christine, and brother Larry Kirby. He leaves his mother-in-law Elizabeth Gebler, brothers and sisters-in-law Bob, Kathy, Donna, Beth and Chuck Goley, and a host of lifelong friends.

Born in Dothan, Alabama, and raised in Pensacola, Woody graduated from Woodham High School before receiving an MBA from the University of West Florida. He married his high school sweetheart Debbie in 1972 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, where his celebration of life and memorial Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 26, at 9:30 a.m. After Mass a prayer service will be held at the Bayview park sunrise cross.

Woody had a distinguished career with Ford Motor Company before retiring after more than 30 years. He was a loyal and dedicated employee who loved the company, his work, and those he worked with. He was a selfless manager who excelled at bringing out the best in his employees through his coaching, counseling, and gift of mentoring. This gift influenced the career paths of so many who were fortunate enough to have called him their boss. Woody continued to work as a consultant prior to his death.

He was everything to many people and such a guiding influence to many more. His thoughtfulness, generosity, loyalty, and dedication to his family and friends proved just how great of a man he was. He was our rock.

Woody will be remembered for his wit; generous spirit; fondness of gadgets, fishing; steadfast dedication to his family; and love of his dogs Bentley, Bogart, Mia, and Peter.

The family requests that donations-in lieu of flowers-be made to cairnrescue.com or the juniorhumanesociety.com (Pensacola)
