Timothy Gibbons Obituary

Timothy P. Gibbons

1944-2014

Timothy P. Gibbons, 69, passed peacefully while in Hospice on February 28, 2014. He was born in Baltimore, MD on May 26, 1944. He moved to Pensacola in 1980.

Tim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served in Vietnam and also served on the USS Proteus in Holy Loch, Scotland, supplying Fleet Ballistic Missile submarines. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he had many entrepreneurial endeavors. He owned waterbed stores in the Pensacola area, worked in the junkyard business, and also had a career in the construction industry.

Tim was an active member at Holy Cross Episcopal. One of the ways he lived his faith was to always greet people with a smile and a kind word. Tim never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his son, Donald N. Gibbons, who died tragically in 1989.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Gibbons; son Edwin Gibbons and his wife Regina; daughter Donna Hoy and her husband Carl; daughter Elizabeth Demme and her husband Stephen. Tim is also survived by six grandchildren, all of whom will miss their Pop-Pop tremendously: Nicole Hoy, Crystal Gibbons, Edwin Gibbons II, Donald Gibbons, Peter Demme, and Hannah Demme. Tim is also survived by one great grand-daughter Nevaeh Steer.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 3rd at 10am at Holy Cross Episcopal. Tim will be inurned at Bayview Cemetary.

There are no words really at a time like this. There is only faith and trust in a power greater than ourselves. I regret the distance that kept us apart. Beyond it all my loving brother Tim is and has been a part of my heart for a long time. I am praying that God wraps you all in his loving arms and comforts you all. I will miss the opportunity to see him again, Love, Melody
