Allen Gray Obituary
Allen Wayne Gray, Jr. "AJ"

1986-2012

Allen Wayne Gray Jr. "AJ" (25) passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday July 14th.

AJ was born August 2, 1986 at Fort Belvoir VA where his father was serving in the US Marine Corps. After his father's retirement, AJ and his family returned to Pensacola in 2003 where he graduated from Woodham High School class of 2005 and Pensacola Junior College class of 2007. Allen was only a few classes short of a BS degree in Computer Science at the University of West Florida.

AJ was a computer wiz and enjoyed gaming and pod casting. He had a great number of friends from all over with whom he befriended on line. He was a jolly jovial person with a quick wit and possessed a great deal of intellect. Another love was cooking and camping with his extended family. Most recently, in the year since his father's passing, AJ became his mother's "Rock" taking care of her during her period of grief, preparing meals, tending to the household and mentoring his younger brother with whom he shared a very special bond.

AJ was preceded in death by his father CWO3 Allen W. Gray SR. USMC Ret.; his maternal grandmother Sara Posey; paternal grandfather Gary Lee Gray; and paternal grandmother Mary Alice Goodson Gray.

He is survived by his mother Rhonda Posey Gray; brother Brandon Gray; maternal grandparents Ronald and Barbara Posey; paternal grandmother Edna Gray; and numerous aunts and uncles from Pensacola and Cincinnati Ohio. AJ's untimely death will be felt by many but none more than his immediate family that has grown to rely on his strength and courage over the last year. AJ stepped up for his family in a way that would have made his father very proud.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday July 19th followed by a funeral service at 6:00 at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home, 1000 Hwy 29, Cantonment. An interment service for family and close friends will follow on Friday at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions can be made to the Allen Gray Jr. Memorial Fund at Members First Credit Union Florida.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online at fcfhs.com
